Choosing a Hairstyle Based on Maintenance and Lifestyle
A beautiful hairstyle makes you look beautiful, but if getting it right takes forever every morning, how good is it for you really? A high-maintenance hairdo is exciting, but when it becomes a day-to-day burden, switching to something simpler might be smart.
The point is to choose something more ordinary, something you can wear running errands, picking something up at the store, etc. In situations like these, you don’t have to go all out. You only need your hair to look respectable and of course, suitable for your features. Then on special events, you can always wear that style you’ve always loved.
Why do you need that kind of distinction? Because whether you like it it or not, your hairstyle makes a different in your everyday life. And keeping it good has much to do with your current lifestyle and personality, two factors that usually get ignored, consciously or unconsciously, when people choose a hairstyle.
Point is that people will have their conclusions about you or plain judge you based on your hairstyle. That sure sounds unfair but it’s reality.
So the question is, what is your hair saying about you? At such a point, lifestyle and personality enter the picture.
Lifestyle is mainly about practicality. Do you live where warm? Do you normally sweat a lot? You probably like to just to tie your hair back in a ponytail. Your hair obviously needs to have the right length to do that.
Do you work in a formal office environment? If so, you should go with a more traditional hairstyle instead of something artsy.
How about the subcultures you may be a part of? Punk or goth? Each has specific hairstyles that they’re known for.
Maybe you don’t really belong to any group but you’re just naturally edgier than the regular guy or gal. If you’re more of an outgoing one-of-the-boys type than a sweet girly girl, a pixie cut or any shorter hairstyle will convey trait of yours just perfectly. You might even want to color your hair. If that’s what your heart is telling you, listen to it.
Some people carry shorter hair better than the rest (facial shape plays a huge role in this). Most people think longer and natural-color hair is best, but it’s really a matter of preference. Of course, we have to be reasonable in any choice or decision that we need to make.
The final point is that your personality should be considered when you decide on a particular hairstyle. And don’t hesitate to experiment! What could be better than being comfortable in your own skin – and hair?
